New Van to change Asylum Seekers Lives
The Australian Asylum Seeker Resource Centre believes the new van they received with the contribution from the Rotary Club of Balwyn has the capacity to increase donations to the charity by up to 20 pc.
This would amount to about $160,000 a year in food according to Chantelle Bazerghi, the foodbank manager at the ASRC.
“We at the ASRC Foodbank want to express our deepest gratitude and thanks for the amazing brand new refrigerated Mercedes van we received. You can see from the above how excited we are!"
The van will make an enormous difference to the more than 580 asylum seekers we see each week.
Half of them have no income at all and rely on the ASRC as their sole source of food.
And the Minivan will be available to take families seeking asylum on excursions through our KidsZone program said Ms Bazerghi.
