Box Hill Mini Rail
The society was formed in 1983 and the Box Hill Council gave approval and funding for the construction of the project. The railway is modelled on a local full-size railway and the society’s station is a miniature of the actual Box Hill station.
The many locomotives operating are powered by steam, petrol and electricity. These have been constructed by the society members, an exercise that has absorbed many thousands of hours. The passenger cars were also built in the society’s workshops with safety as a prime consideration.
The Society is a non-profit organisation and its members provide voluntary labour. It supports local charities and is available for private parties.
The Rotary Club of Rotary supports the society with volunteers on a regular monthly schedule and some financial assistance.
