Donations in Kind (DIK)


Our Rotary Club is a member of DIK Inc the major sponsor of Donations In Kind West Footscray. The members of this group pay the rent and contribute the majority of the $50,000 pa operating costs. The Store which is wholly run by volunteers is one of Rotary’s great success stories. It recycles quality donated goods and gives them to people in genuine need for free.

    Transforming Nature Strips

    The Rotary Club of Balwyn is helping property owners in Boroondara beautify their nature strips – replacing the lawn (and weeds!) with indigenous flowering shrubs, grasses and groundcovers to attract bees, birds and butterflies. Download the brochure HERE.


    Securing an affordable rental is tough, fitting it out can be tougher! RIMERN (Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network) is a multi club Rotary project operating Inner Melbourne, providing furniture, appliances & homewares to welfare agency clients who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, incarceration, refugee displacement and other crises. RIMERN is modelled on Eastern Emergency Relief Network (operating in the Eastern suburbs) and Western Emergency Relief Network (operating in the Western suburbs) & the three Rotary projects collaborate wherever possible.     Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is a week-long residential program for young people aged 18 to 25, which focuses on personal growth, leadership development and community.

    Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) is a Youth Leadership conference for young people who are between 15 and 17 and are year 9, 10 or 11 students. The conference is a weekend long camp designed at developing young people’s potential through a
    mixture of lecture style sessions and adventure- based learning.


    National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) runs annual residential programs to encourage young people in their passion for science. It gives year  12 students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in
    science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and encourages them to continue their studies in these fields.
