The City of Boroondara is in Melbourne’s inner and middle-eastern suburbs, five kilometres east of the central business district.  Almost two-thirds of the City is bounded by water courses and parklands including the Yarra River, Gardiner’s Creek and Yarra Bend Park.  The city is primarily residential in nature, although it has a number of educational and private and public health-care facilities. The main industries include building construction, air and space transport, machinery and equipment wholesaling, publishing.

Its 2020 results were unexpected and says a great deal about the Australian population. This presentation will share these findings and present some thoughts on our future challenges. The surveys provide insight into the resilience of Australian society when faced with a major crisis. The Scanlon Foundation aspires to see Australia advance as a welcoming, prosperous and cohesive nation particularly related to the transition of migrants into Australian Society. The Foundation supports ongoing longitudinal research into the indicators of social cohesion and the results of this research inform the Foundation’s activities.     Dale Hoy-District Governor

    District Governor's Address to the Club Dale has been a member of the Rotary Club of Brighton for 17 years and has served on the board as a director of Vocational Services, Fundraising, Foundation, Community Service and was President in 2016/17. He has been awarded a Paul Harris Double Sapphire, Royce Abbey Award and is a member of the Paul Harris Society. Originally from Warrnambool, Dale has worked in Melbourne and abroad. He has a Bachelor Business and Master of Business Administration and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Dale has worked in Audit and Corporate Services for PwC Melbourne, Taxation and Staff Training for Coopers and Lybrand, now combined as PwC and Hoare Govett Stock Brokers London and the Channel Islands. In 1989 Dale started up a financial services company in Jakarta, Indonesia where he and his wife Maureen lived for 10 years. On his return to Australia Dale built another company from scratch offering an international retirement platform based in Hong Kong, Singapore and Channel Islands for upwardly mobile high net worth senior expatriates, working with independent international tax and legal advisors.
