    31-OCT Anna Slattery, National Manager, Trusts & Foundations at The Smith Family is our speaker. Anna is a philanthropy professional working specifically with Trusts & Foundations to secure income to support Australian children and young people in need, through education. Anna commenced her journey into philanthropy initially as a volunteer with The Smith Family eight years ago, where she saw firsthand the tremendous impact of the charity’s work. In her role as a Philanthropy Manager, Anna manages the relationships and stewardship of a portfolio of key national and some international, Trusts & Foundations where her focus is to deepen relationships with philanthropic partners to support the growth in the organisation’s revenue. Anna’s background includes a broad range of experience across the philanthropy, corporate HR, executive search and education sectors. She also volunteers on a grant review panel of a NFP and appreciates the opportunity of giving back, as well as finding the experience valuable for applying the principles of social value to both grant seeking and grant making. Whether in teaching, training, managing projects and philanthropy, Anna’s goal has always been to make a positive and systemic change to the lives of people in need and advance the mission of the organisation.

    17-OCT The Boroondara Literary Awards are a joint activity of Balwyn Rotary and the City of Boroondara. 6pm arrival for a 6.30pm start, at the Main Hall, Hawthorn Arts Centre, 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn. After the event, at about 8.00 pm, there will be a social get together, light meal and drinks at the Glenferrie Hotel, a short walk from the Town Hall.     10-OCT Possum Portraits-Commemorating Perinatal Loss “There are many ways to commemorate a loss, all beautiful, bittersweet and personal in their own way. A Possum Portrait is a hand-drawn portrait of your baby, based on one or more photographic reference pictures which you provide with your application. In concert with our resident artist, you decide the way in which your photo(s) will be adapted into a drawing. Thanks to our donors and sponsors, upon completion of the process you will receive the portrait drawing of your angel baby along with a high resolution scan of your portrait free of charge.” Possum Portraits Visitors are welcome to attend, just send an email to attendance@balwynrotary.org.au
